The Parish is pleased to announce the winners this year’s Jenny Lecoat Scriptwriting Award 2020.
The competition, which is established to encourage female screenwriting, is supported by Soroptimists International, Jersey and adjudicated by established local author Jenny Lecoat.
First prize of £300 has been awarded to Germanophobia by Fran Greenwood.
Jenny says of the work: “This is a touching study of vulnerability and courage. Set in a lesser known, rarely explored period of island history, it uses detail and subtlety to tell a simple but poignant story of defiance against prejudice – themes that resonate strongly with contemporary events.”
Runners up prizes of £100 were awarded to The Curse of Old Bluebeard by Kathryn Webb and Teresa Mae by Emma Norton
Jenny says that “The Curse of Old Bluebeard weaves together imagery from religion, mythology and horror to create a disturbing, dark tale, whilst Emma’s Teresa Mae is a warm exploration of human connection and female friendship.”
